Wood married his first wife Velma Marie "Snooky" Bowman on November 27, 1941 in Seminole, Seminole County, Oklahoma, by Justice of the Peace Fred Statham. From this marriage one son was born, Harry Lawson Wood born in 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Wood married his second wife Amy Louise Berryman in 1943 in the State of Mississippi. Wood entered the U.S. Army on March 19, 1944, during World War II. On November 02, 1944 he was shipped to Germany with the 285th Engineers. After being discharged from the Army, Wood and wife Amy moved to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area (Sapulpa and Sand Springs) where he obtained employment with the Dover Corporation. Wood remained with this company for 37 years when he retired.
Wood died on Wednesday afternoon, November 10, 1982 at the Bartlett Memorial Medical Center, Sapulpa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Wood is survived by his wife Amy Louise of the home; his mother, Vera Wood of Maud, Oklahoma; one son Harry Lawson Wood of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; one step-son Don Brown of Tulsa; one step-daughter Janice Holmes of Sapulpa; one brother, Ted Wood of Portland, Texas; two sisters, Mary Rogers of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Georgia Lane of Independence, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday November 15, 1982 at the Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. L.E. Lanning officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma
