Nancy Joy was born October 25, 1937, in Wyoming, to Joe and Susie Powers. The family moved back to Boise, Idaho in the 50's. Her only sibling, Helen Lorraine, passed away before Nancy was even born, so she was raised as an only child though she had cousins nearby that she grew up with.

She married John L. Carver, and because he was in the military, they were stationed for a time in Japan but returned to live in Boise, Idaho. Nancy worked for a short time as a lunch lady for the Boise School District. They had a large family of seven sons and two daughters, and Nancy's most important job was being home with her family. Nancy was a loving mother, and her family was important to her. She loved to crochet and spent a lot of time making things for family and friends. Nancy also had a huge collection of angels that she treasured. She always had a big smile and a joyful laugh!

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her husband, and two sons.
