FREDERICKSBURG Funeral services were held here Tues day afternoon at the Edison Street Methodist Church for the Rev. Emil E. Schmidt, 77, native of Fredericksburg, who died Sunday in a Fredericksburg hospital after an extended illness. The Rev. Alvin Maulding officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. Schmidt was a retired Methodist minister who had served various congregations In the Houston area and later held pastorates in Mason and Copperas Cove. He entered the ministry In 1915, retired in 1940 at Copperas Cove where he resided until he moved back to his birthplace in Fredericksburg In 1954. His wife, the former Miss Ella Schulze of Mason, died last September. Rev. Schmidt is survived by two sons, Andrew Schmidt of Snyder and Nelson Schmidt of Copperas Cove; a daughter, Mrs. tmeiyn Lewis of Lubbock; six brothers, Eugene B. Schmidt and Herman Schmidt, both of Fredericksburg, Egon Schmidt of Mason, Louis Schmidt of Riesel, C. F. Schmidt of Brenham and Fred Schmidt of Verdon, Okla.; and two sisters, Mrs. August Woerner and Mrs. Richard Kneese, both of Fredericksburg.
