1922 ~ 2014
West Jordan, UT - One of God's choicest daughters returned home to her Heavenly Father and many loved ones March 24, 2014 from causes incident to age. Lucile Evans Smith was born February 24, 1922 to Eva Arzell Thompson and Evan George Evans. Married Thomas V. Smith on August 20, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lucile was always teaching, serving, and thinking of others even near the end of her life.
She served in many positions in the LDS church including ward relief society president. While in the hospital or care center, she was worried about her ward sisters and getting reports about their visiting teaching; she was always willing to help and serve others. Lucile enjoyed genealogy work throughout most of her adult life. She truly knew her ancestors because of the work she did in finding them, researching them, and compiling their histories. One of the most recent discoveries was finding an ancestor that they had been researching for more than 45 years.
Lucile is survived by her children: Evan (Norma) Smith, Janice (Byrl) McClellan, Ranon (Ralph) Wilks, Dalain (Sharon) Smith, Vaughn (Robynn) Smith, Charlene (Allen) Arko, brother: Alan (Vaudis) Evans, 30 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Tom, brother Daloy and sister-in-law Dorothy, daughter Linda Isaacson and son-in-law Roger Isaacson.
The family would like to give special thanks to her granddaughter Tami Nelson and her daughters also to Maria, Michelle, and Kathy from Hospice, for taking extra special care when Lucile couldn't do it herself, and Debbie who volunteered doing massage therapy.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 29th at 1:00 pm at Mountain View 7th Branch, 8825 South 3200 West. A viewing will be held Friday, March 28th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10600 S) and Saturday at the church from 12:00-12:45 prior to the services. Interment Mountain View Memorial. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com
