Mary Jane Biesecker passed away peacefully at Hospice, Sunday evening, March 16, 2014, following her battle with cancer.

Mary was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Leslie and Gwendolyn (Tietz) Kalanquin, August 31, 1935. She married the love of her life, Lee L. Biesecker, May 9, 1953, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. They raised four children together and created many wonderful memories. Mary, her husband, Lee, and their children moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1969.

Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing, Brazilian embroidery, knitting, and a variety of handwork, gardening, camping, racing, and many other activities. Mary loved to share with everyone her skills, adventures, and activities.

Mary had an intense passion for quilting. She was actively involved in several quilting guilds, donating her time, love and energy to every organization she belonged to. She was heavily involved in Sunset Slope Quilters, Monument Quilters, Block Busters, Crazy Quilts, and was also a member of the Nevada Quilting Guild along with various other groups such as the Wool Group, Little Bits, Questers, Rug Hookers and a Dye Group. She was knowledgeable and taught several classes about the history of feed sacks. Her selfless commitment to the organizations she belonged to was astounding. She was a friend, teacher, and mentor to all.

Mary loved to travel throughout the United States and recently traveled to Ireland and Canada a few years ago. She was a member of a travel group, the Friendship Force. Nevada was a favorite place where she and Lee had a second home and spent a lot of their free time.

Mary is survived by her children, Rosemarie Ann Sall (Steven), of Castle Rock, Ricky Lee Biesecker and Judith Lynn Biesecker, of Grand Junction, and Patrick Alan Biesecker, of Arizona; her brother, Leslie John "Jack" Kalanquin, of Colorado; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; and infant son, Michael Lee; her sister, Donna; and her parents, Leslie and Gwendolyn (Tietz) Kalanquin.

Mary made an indelible impact upon the lives of everyone she knew and her caring, giving nature will be missed.

Special thanks to those that supported her with her projects, Doctors and many Nurses that took special care of her and touched her heart during this process.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Callahan-Edfast, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 10:00 a.m.
