Trooper Jason Thomas Brown 8255847 of the Special Air Service Regiment, Aged 29. Trooper Brown was unmarried and had been a soldier for a decade. He joined the SAS in 2007.

The 29-year-old soldier died from multiple gunshot wounds in a clash with insurgents near a river bank in northern Kandahar on 13th August 2010 from an enemy 5-10m away.

Trooper Brown, who was born in Sydney, first served with the Army's 1st Battalion and then the well known 4RAR commando battalion.

Despite the best efforts of his patrol members to resuscitate him Trooper Brown was declared dead on arrival at Kandahar airfield.

At the time of the incident Trooper Brown was wearing the latest certified approved ballistic helmet and body armour. Unfortunately Trooper Brown received fatal wounds around his body armour. The inquiry officer was satisfied that Trooper Brown's dress and equipment were suitable for the task he was undertaking ..."
