Jane married Thomas Baker, who was farming at Kihikihi, not far from Alexandra (Pirongia). Thomas had been a member of the Armed Constabulary and was awarded the N. Z. Medal. He also received Land Grants.
Jane and Thomas had eleven children, 7 boys and 4 girls. After Jane's death in 1892, some of the younger children were sent to Hawera and raised by their Uncle William & Aunt Jane Appleyard (Jnr).
