Albert was an active member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of rural Doland where he served on the church board, sang in the choir, and a men's quartet. He also served several years on the school board and township board. While living in Huron he faithfully attended the Mt. Olivet Mennonite Church.
Albert enjoyed hunting and traveling to several states and to Canada. In 1963 they visited friends in Mali, Africa and in Israel. In 1981 they visited a missionary in Belize, Central America. He enjoyed visiting friends and spending time with his family. He was always interested in what his grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Edna K. Hofer of Huron; one daughter Shirley (Ellis) Wipf of Huron; grandchildren, Corliss (Nolan) Kleinsasser of Huron; Blaine (Keena) Wipf of Huron; Nolan (Lesa) Wipf of Hitchcock; seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron, and Rachel Kleinsasser, Brandon and Spencer Wipf, and Lucas and Logan Wipf; one brother, John J. Hofer of Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rosetta Joy on January 27,1953; his parents; two brothers, Jake R. and Dave S.; two sisters, Susie Tschetter and Kathryn Gross; three sisters-in-law, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Grace Hofer; two brothers-in-law, Andrew P. Tschetter and Peter K. Gross.
Albert entered the hospital December 6, 2000 and remained there until his death. He passed away January 6, 2001 at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
