Albert R. Hofer was born August 1, 1911 at rural Frankfort to Jacob M. and Rachel (Hofer) Hofer. He grew up there and received his education in a rural school. On September 8, 1932 he married Edna K. Gross. Following their marriage, they farmed in Antelope Township in Spink County for 47 years. They moved to Huron in 1981 after they retired from active farming.
Albert was an active member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of rural Doland where he served on the church board, sang in the choir, and a men's quartet.
