His father died young and his mother Adeline Breckenridge Jefferis gave him, his two brothers, Lewis and Frank and sister Flora to foster homes. Charles and Frank went to the Lutheran Home in Philadelphia. Lewis went with another family (? name) and when old enough went to California. Florence Ella was put with William Frank Walton and Sidney Walton in West Chester Pa. She married Frederick William Hoyle. Frank had two daughters, Mary died in infancy and Margaret died 1976 at the age of 75.
Charles had adopted daughter Eleanore Ruth Himelburger, she dropped the Himelburger and took Jefferis as her last name.
Eleanor Himleberger Jefferis was born July 29 1911 and married Willard Seipt born June 9 1915.
Charles wife Katherine Weikel Jefferis was born March 1 1876 and passed away August 8 1960
