The daughter of David Walter Banfield and Ruby Slaten, Lorena married William "Edgar" Dobson, Sr. on 05 Jun 1934. He was the father of 1 child from his first marriage.

Lorena was employed as a dishwasher at Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton, Jersey County, Illinois. She and Edgar were the parents of 12 children.

During a bad flood in April of 1973, Lorena walked over a steep, hilly area in order to get to transportation so that she could get to her job at Pere Marquette. She suddenly became ill and a nurse was dispatched from the Grafton Flood Command Center. Efforts were made to revive Lorena, but she was pronounced dead on arrival at Jersey Community Hospital. Her death, due to an apparent heart attack, came 16 days after her 57th birthday.

She was survived by her husband, William; 6 sons and 1 step-son; 5 daughters; 3 sisters, Etta Ketchum of Peoria, Illinois, Agnes Daniels of Riverdale, Illinois, and Ruth Presley of Grafton; and 2 brothers, Francis Banfield and Wilbur Banfield.

Lorena was preceded in death by her mother and father, and 1 daughter, Regina Godar.

Visitation was held on 30 Apr 1973 at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services were conducted there at 1:30 p.m. the following afternoon.

Lorena's husband, William, passed away in 1978.
