PALMER, Mass. -- Conrad B. "Charlie" Albrecht, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield on March 25, 1930,a son of the late George and Ruth (Dulude) Albrecht. Charlie served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War as an orderly in a military hospital. He was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and a member of American Legion Post 236 and VFW Post 8428. Charlie was passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed fishing the streams and hunting the woods near his home in Goshen. Charlie was a member of Laborers Union 999 and was employed for many years at Lane Construction, retiring in 1989. Charlie is survived by his brother, Warren and his wife Suzanne of Springfield, his sisters, Viola and her husband Albert Bailey, III of East Longmeadow, and June Martell Darnley of Belchertown, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his younger brother Edward Albrecht for whom he was a lifelong caregiver and also predeceased by another brother, George Albrecht, and his stepfather, Oscar Bouchard. Relatives and friends are requested to gather on Tuesday, March 25 for 3pm committal services in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Contributions in Charlie's memory may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 75817, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
