Irving was born in Drabov, Russia and came to the U.S. with his family in 1906. The family name was originally Zuretsky. Irving was attending the Rochester School of Optometry in 1917. He also attended the University of Toronto at some point. Irving married Tillie Tobis in 1919. Irving & Tillie were members of Temple Society of Concord. Irving was president of the Central NY Optometric Society in 1946.
