Mrs. Thomas M. Jeffris, 99, Janesville's oldest resident, died at 10 a.m. Monday in her home, 602 S. Third St. Her husband, the late Thomas Mouat Jeffries, was a member of a pioneer Janesville family and her elder son, Bruce M. Jeffris, is president of Parker Pen Co.''The former Harriet Abigail Hall was born in Morris, Ill., March 6, 1857. In the early eighties she went to South Dakota to homestead and became register of deeds of Beadle County. In Huron she met her future husband who with his brothers Malcolm G. and William S. Jeffris, were also homesteading in Dakota. Thomas Jeffris operated a lumber yard and a general store there and they were married in Huron June 3, 1880.

Because of failing health Mr. Jeffris discontinued business and brought his family to Janesville in 1898. He died in this city April 4, 1908.

Mrs. Jeffries was the oldest member of First Congregational Church and an early day member of Janesville History Club.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Ruth Jeffris, Janesville; two sons, Bruce M. Jeffris, Janesville and Robert M. Jeffris, Crandon, Wis.; grandchildren Mrs. P.L. Worcester, Lavonia, Mich., Kenneth F. Jeffris, Toronto, Canada, and THomas Mouat Jeffris, Janesville...
