Fall at Home Is Fatal To John Sponauer, 76
John Sponauer, 79, well known and respected resident of the Rolling Mill Hill section of the city, died early yesterday morning at his home, 268 Poplar Street. He was injured three weeks ago in a fall at his home, and had declined steadily since the accident.
The funeral will be held from the home Monday morning at 9 with a requiem mass at 9:30 in St. Boniface Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover.
Mr. Sponauer was born in Germany and came to this country when a young man, settling in Wyoming Valley. He was engaged as a carpenter for many years and was widely known. He was a communicant of St. Boniface Church and a member of the Knights of St. George of that congregation.
Surviving are his widow, Catherine Labar Sponauer, and these children, Henry and Joseph of Elizabeth, N. J.; William of Hunlock Creek; Mrs. William Langan, Mrs. Simon Marowski, Anthony and John Sponauer of Wilkes-Barre, and Clara and Carl Sponauer at home. Eighteen grandchildren also survive.
