Early Life/Education: Melba was born on February 14, 1923, the fifth of six children born to Christian Lewis and June Tuckett Petersen of Provo. She was raised in Provo and attended Provo schools.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: On September 9, 1940, Melba married Elmer Smith. They were blessed with a son, Steven Don Smith. He was the light of her life. On June 29, 1967, she married Homer Garth Fuller. Melba and Garth loved to go camping and enjoyed socializing and dancing. They also enjoyed traveling together and with other family members. Melba lived a life of service and love. She touched many lives of those around her. In her early career, she worked as a waitress, and later, as a dental receptionist/assistant. She served as a Pink Lady Volunteer for many years at the American Fork Hospital. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her garden was a source of joy to Melba and she always had fresh flowers decorating her house. She was famous for her sweet tooth but was very generous with her sweet treats. She loved watching birds fly around her bird feeders, especially the hummingbirds. She had a love for dogs and other animals. Melba's special joy was her family and friends. She always looked forward to her family reunions, gatherings and dinners. Melba is greatly loved and will be missed. Melba Marie Petersen Smith Fuller peacefully passed away on March 13, 2014, surrounded by loving family. She was 91.
Survived By: One sister-in-law, Carol (Harold) Petersen, stepson, Michael Fuller; and two stepdaughters, Bonnie Sue Burchett and Janice Ellis; many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Preceded In Death By: Her parents; her husbands; her son, Steven Don Smith; her brothers and sisters: Myrle Daybell Vincent, Arlene Carter, Victor Lewis Petersen, Harold C. Petersen, and Verl H. Petersen; a half-sister, Ione Watkins.
