Born and raised in Afton, Melba was a daughter of Albert Edwin Kennington and Stella Call Kennington. Graduating from Star Valley High School, she married Milton Edward Erickson November 2, 1932 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Employed as a telephone operator, cook, elections clerk, census taker, butter wrapper and seamstress, she actively served as Relief Society secretary for many year. A thirst for learning new things, she was a devoted wife and mother, a faithful LDS Church member and loving friend.

Passing away at age 95 of natural causes at the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho, Melba is survived by her four sons and three daughters: Ted (Elivra) Erickson, Verd (Terry) Erickson, Kent (Jill) Erickson, Wayne (Suzanne) Erickson, Marilyn Erickson, Lorna (DeLoy) Roberts and Shannon (David) Chase; 39 grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband on June 22, 1996; brothers: Dale, Theodore and Glen, and a sister: Berlyn.
