Ann Christine Sorlie-Togstad, 94, Maddock, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, in Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, N.D.
Ann Arne was born Dec. 10, 1911, in Tacoma, Wash. She lived in Arletta, Wash., before moving to North Dakota. She lived near Flora, N.D., where she attended school. In 1928, she graduated from the Benson County Agriculture and Training School, Maddock. She attended Valley City (N.D.) State University. She taught at Lincoln School near Harlow, N.D. She taught at schools in Quarve, Lynne, Arne, Heimdal, Hesper and Maddock, all N.D. On June 12, 1943, she married Turner Sorlie. They farmed near Maddock. Mr. Sorlie died in 1965. In 1969, she moved into Maddock. She retired in 1973. On March 24, 1979, she married Haldor Togstad. He died in 1991. She entered the nursing home in 2000.
She is survived by a son, Dean (Rita) Sorlie, Maddock; a sister, Caroline Billigmeier, Minot, N.D.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation: Wednesday from 2 to 8, with a prayer service at 7, in Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.
Funeral: Thursday at 1:30 in North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock. Burial in the church cemetery.
