Ione E. Ohlsen, age 96, a Manitowoc resident, died on Tuesday evening, June 23, 2009, at St. Mary's Nursing Home, Manitowoc.

She was born Aug. 23, 1912, in Valders, daughter of the late Rudolph and Louise (Christel) Kletzien.

On Sept. 2, 1932, she married John E. (Babe) Ohlsen in Waukegan, Ill.

The couple moved to Los Angeles in 1943 before relocating back to Manitowoc in 1956 where the couple established their own printing company. The couple operated Ohlsen Printing for 24 years, retiring in 1982.

John preceded her in death on May 19, 2001. Ione and her husband enjoyed sports, especially golf. Ione enjoyed the hobby of creating art and pictures through the use of canceled postage stamps. She was an avid collector for many years. Ione was a member of St. Francis of Assisi.

She is also preceded in death by a sister: Alfreda Czekala; two brothers: Erwin and Lincoln Kletzien; two brothers-in-law: Donald Underburg and Victor Czekala; and two sisters-in-law: Albena Kletzien and Francis Kletzien.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen.

The committal service will take place in church and burial will occur at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to her caregivers, especially Christine Noskowiak and Ann McDonall, and also the staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, St. Mary's Home and Home Care Health Services/Hospice.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
