Funeral services for Ruth Cotton, 77, of Route 2, Ava, were held at 1 pm Monday at Murray Church south of Ava, with the Rev. Vernon Hartgraves officiating. Burial was in Murray Cemetery under direction of Clinkingbeard's of Ava.
A lifelong resident of Ava, Mrs. Cotton died at 9:45 am Thursday at her home following a long illness.
She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Wasola.
Born Jan. 19, 1902 at Marked Tree, Ark., she was the daughter of Perry Logan Pratt and Delia Jane Covington. She married William Alvin Wallingford Jan. 27, 1919, at Squires. On Nov. 15, 1958, she married Jessie Cotton at Mansfield. Mr. Cotton preceded her in death July 1, 1978.
Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Edith Smith, Lahabra, Calif., Mrs. Ida Arnold, Brea, Calif., Mrs. Jean Banister, Ava, Mrs. Rutha Maloney, Mtn. Grove, Mrs. Laura Landsdown, Mansfield, and Mrs. Reva Everett, Great Bend, Kan.; three sons, Wilbur Wallingford, Atlanta, Kan., Bill Wallingford, Winfield, Kan., and Fred Wallingford, address unknown; two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Mays, Springfield, and Mrs. Florida Mulligan, Avilla, Mo; 34 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
