Julia Mae Hansen, Soutas, Fowler, Griffin, wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on December 5, 2013, in Leland, Michigan. Julia was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 25, 1926, to Ray Burton Hansen and Francis Bell.

Julia graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City and met and married her first husband, Ivan C. Soutas, in 1942 and together they had 5 children.

After their divorce, Julia worked in the medical field in an administrative position for a period of time, raising her children as a single Mom.

She met her second husband, Herbert B. Fowler, and they married in 1970, and moved to East Lansing, Michigan. Following Dr. Fowler's death, Julia joined the staff at Michigan State University's Lifelong Education center as a conference coordinator. Two years later she started her own company "New Beginnings," a health and wellness program.

Julia returned to Utah where she met and married Glen L. Griffin who passed away several years later. In 2001, following a series of health problems Julia returned to Michigan where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law until the time of her death.

Julia was preceded in death by her brother Jerry M Hansen and daughter, Julie Jeanne Soutas.

She is survived by her sons Robert (Lynne) and Ron (Cathie) S. of SLC; her son Rick S. and step-son Reed (Holly) F. of Portland, Oregon; her daughter, Patricia (Robert) S.L. in Leland, Michigan, her stepdaughter, Julie (Terry) F. of Torrey, Utah; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Julia was a beautiful, kind, gracious lady who, despite life's challenges, always viewed the glass as half-full, never half-empty. She had the bluest eyes and a smile that lit up the room. Rest in peace sweet Mamma, you will be sorely missed.

The Memorial Services will be Saturday 11:00 AM January 25th 2014 at the Little Cottonwood, SLC, Utah. Interment will be at the Sunset Gardens, in Sandy Utah.
