George Pfaff, 87, Valley City, N.D., died Friday, April 19, 2002, at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.

Mr. Pfaff was born May 7, 1914, in Eugene, Ore., the son of John and Caroline (Brahmar) Pfaff. He moved with his family at a young age near Litchville, N.D., where he grew up and attended school. After finishing his education, he started working for area farmers.

He married Edith Thornberg on July 26, 1939, in Valley City. They farmed in Green Township near Valley City. She died June 2, 1966. He moved to Litchville in 1966 and in 1977 he moved to Valley City.

He married Edna Kraft Twiet on June 4, 1977, in Valley City. He worked at the Sunset 66 gas station in Valley City until retiring in 1980.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Darrel (Starlene), West Fargo, N.D., Ron (Martha), Litchville, and Mike, Arizona; Four daughters, Mavis (Richard) Pritzkau, Bakersfield, Calif., Nancy (Herb) Elmore, Eureka, Mont., Debbie Pfaff, Ogden, Utah, and Mary Ertelt, Valley City; a brother, Kenneth (Emogene), Litchville; a sister, Irene (Walt) Frisk, Everett, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; two sons and numerous brothers and sisters.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, at Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City, with the Rev. John Rieth officiating.

Visitation: 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home and one hour before services.

Burial: Hillside Cemetery, Valley City.
