BROWNVILLE JUNCTION - Vaughn A. Coburn, 83, husband of Francesca K Coburn passed away March 13, 2014, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born July 4, 1930, in Brownville Junction, the son of Matthew P. and Alice E. (Swan) Coburn.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Vaughn had worked as an electrician for Great Northern Paper Co., retiring after 31 years. He was a member of the Bernard Jones American Legion Post No. 92 in Brownville Junction, and had managed the Legion Hall for 38 years. He was also a member of the Pleasant River Lodge No. 163 AF & AM. He enjoyed telling old stories and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Francesca of Brownville Junction; a stepson, Peter P. Chase and Jenny of New Jersey; two grandchildren, Nikolas and Bryson; two brothers, Whitney and Linda Coburn of Brownville Junction, and Roger Coburn of Massachusetts; a sister, Ruth and Richard England of Florida; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Dolan, Irene Jenkinson, and Betty Demboski. Vaughn's family extends their gratitude to the Special Care Unit at Hibbard Nursing Home and all the care givers and staff for their love, care and support given to Vaughn and his family. A special thank-you goes to friend and caregiver, Sue Coburn.

A graveside funeral service with military honors will be conducted at Pinetree Cemetery in the spring. (Bangor Daily News)
