Member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, was in its choir for 25 years and served as its leader for about 15 years. He was a member of Sedgwick Post No. 42 Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) and served as its commander for many years until his death.
