Charles H.(Chuck) Awbrey, 77, long-time Moxee resident went to be in the arms of his heavenly Father Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, from Hillcrest Manor in Sunnyside.

Chuck was born May 20, 1928 in Protem, Mo., the son of Hob and Mary (Thronton) Awbrey. On July 27, 1951, he married Bonnie Barncord in Yakima. Chuck retired from Safeway Trucking after 25 years, receiving the one million mile award for having no accidents from Safeway Stores.

Chuck enjoyed gardening, raising English walnuts, metal detecting, fishing, and music, especially the guitar. He made friends easily, loved spending time in the out of doors and playing practical jokes.Chuck was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Awbrey of Moxee; three daughters, Wanda (Dean) Stokes of Sunnyside, Mary Ann Taylor (Lynn) of Moxee, and Nancy Watson (Ken) of Camas; six grandchildren, David and Stephannie Stokes of Sunnyside, Vince and Josh Taylor of Moxee, and Kadie and Emily Watson of Camas; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. At Dad's request there will be no memorial services. For the past two years, Dad lived at Hillcrest Manor. The family would like to give special thanks to Hillcrest Manor for their love and compassion.
