Anna P. Warren
1921 - 2014
Longmeadow
Born in Springfield, MA, Anna P. Warren (Sarno), 92, passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday March 12th, 2014. She was a devoted daughter to her late parents Josephine Albano of Springfield, MA and Carlo Sarno of Italy. She is reunited in Heaven with her soul-mate, Francis E. Warren - known fondly as "Bud"; for whom she lovingly cared for throughout his lengthy infirmity until his sadly premature departure. Theirs was a story-book love; the boy and girl next door devoted to one another - laughing and loving, finding fulfillment together in Life's many moments - now finally in that company once again, forever and always. She was a brilliant woman, and alumnus of Springfield Technical High School, a member of NARFE, a communicant of Saint Mary's Parish of Longmeadow, and an admirable homemaker. Beloved and respected as an involved member in her community, Anna was regarded as both friend and family to all those who knew and adored her. During wartime she aided her country as a hospital volunteer, and in peacetime served as one of her town's first crossing guards. Within the homes of her family and neighbors, her 'from scratch' apple pies and cheese cakes are remembered with acclaim to this day. In her golden years, Anna spent much of her time vacationing and sightseeing surrounded by those remaining nearest of kin. When residing locally she was fond of attending art classes at the Longmeadow Greenwood Park Center. Truly an artist, her work was a source of therapeutic expression and sheer enjoyment. Later in her twilight years, some of her greatest joys sprung from simply playing cards around the dining room table, proudly looking on at the growth of her grandchildren, reading mystery novels, and going out to lunch at the East Longmeadow Council on Aging and playing scrabble - there she was kept company by her eldest daughter, the other senior citizens she befriended, and the lovely art she always carried about and in her sketchpad; which at request she would share with a humble lighthearted smile. Anna was the loving sibling of the predeceased Lucy Azzarone of Clearwater, FL, Evelyn Donnelly of Springfield, MA, Genaro Sarno of Springfield, MA, Carlo Sarno of Longmeadow, MA, and Joanne Heidelman of Oxnard, CA. Beloved mother to her two daughters, Kathleen Warren of East Longmeadow and Barbara and her husband Stanley Krahala Jr. of Longmeadow, and also her son, Russell Warren and his wife Barbara Jean of 'parts unknown'. Anna was an adoring grandmother to her three grandchildren; Daniel Krahala and Jennifer Krahala of Longmeadow, MA and Thomas Warren, his wife Heather and son, Jacob Austin of Cullman, AL. In life she was a loving sister to her surviving siblings, Beatrice House of Hampden, MA, Dominic Sarno of Agawam, MA; sister in laws, Anne Margaret Sarno and Sandra Sarno of Longmeadow, MA; brother in law, Eugene Heidelman of Oxnard, CA and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and by very good friends and neighbors, Ann and Jack Nicholson and Angie Morisi. A heartfelt thank you is sent to the staff at the Mercy Hospital, and the Jewish Nursing Home for the tender care given to Anna, and a special thank you to Dr. Elana Orujev. Family and friends are invited to meet for a period of visitation on Monday March 17th from 11:30am - 12:30pm at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, followed by a 12:30 Service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Longmeadow Cemetery, Longmeadow, MA.
