Martin was the son of John Babbage and Isabella Strout.

MARTIN D. BABBAGE
MILBRIDGE. Feb 4 – Martin D. Babbage, 84 died Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the home of Wilford A. Strout where he had made his home. He was born in Milbridge, Oct. 12, 1856, where he was a life-long resident. He was an honest and industrious citizen. Funeral services were held at his home Sunday, conducted by Rev. H. B. Wheeler of Cherryfield who sang Mr. Babbage's favorite hymn, "Will There Be Any Stars" Raymond Warren had charge of the arrangements. Bearers were Lincoln Strout, Merrill A. Strout, Allen J. Webb and Roland Warren. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Babbage was the last of a family of 11 and is survived by only cousins, nephews and nieces.
