New Market resident. Passed away at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital.

Son of Walter and Nellie Hoffman Kelsey. His father passed away when he was seven and he was raised by Ottis and Mary Couger near Crawfordsville, IN.
Married Virginia Bannon July 26, 1942 at Parkersburg. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters Nancy (Frank) Powers and Rita Pinkerton; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, daugther Janet Norman, son-in-law Ed Pinkerton, three sisters and three brothers.

He was a graduate of New Market schools. He worked at RR Donnelley from 1940-1942. He was drafted into the US Army in 1942 and served a year overseas in the South Pacific.
After his discharge, he farmed near Waveland. He also worked at Raybestos Products and drove a school bus for South Montgomery Schools for 12 years.

He was a 75 year member of New Market First Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and Honorary Deacon, and teaching Sunday School classes. He wa a member of the Waveland Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite; Eastern Star and American Legion Post #72.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.

Service 1pm Monday, March 17 at Powers Priebe Funeral Home with Rev. Wallie Nichols officiating. Visitation 4-8pm Sunday. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8pm Sunday. Military rites will be conducted by VFW and American Legion Posts of Crawfordsville.
