1. The following information was taken from Underhill Genealogy Vol II. Sixth generation, pages 392-395

888 ANGELINA UNDERHILL, daughter of (340) Anthony Lispenard and Clarina (Bartow) Underhill, was born at 44 Dey Street, New York City, Sept. 17, 1799, and married May 15, 1820, in New York City, at 44 Dey Street, by Rev. William P. Berrian, James, born Dec. 10, 1793, Dover, Del., died suddenly May 26, 1855, in St. Joseph, Mo., and Buried in Mount Mora Cemetery, St. Louis [sic] Mo., son of Dr. James Sykes, an eminent surgeon and physician. She died May 8, 1862, in Philadelphia and was buried in her father’s vault in Trinity Churchyard, New York City. Their marriage is recorded in Trinity Church records.

Issue (Sykes):
2262 James, born Oct. 7, 1821, Dover, Del., married in St. Louis, Mo., by Rev. Fawks, Martha, daughter of George G. Presbury of that place. He died in Baltimore, Md., and was buried there. Issue: Harry Lee, George and Charles.

2263 [Colonel] George, born Oct. 9, 1822, Dover, Del., married Emily, daughter of Col. Nathaniel Macrae of the United States Army. He died in Fort Brown, Texas, Feb. 8, 1880, and was buried in West Point, N.Y. Issue: Anna, George, Macrae. [This source offers a lengthy account of how George served the Union in the Battle of Bull Run, Manasses, and Gettysburg among many other wars, battles and skirmishes.]
“… He was transferred to Fort Brown, Texas, and given command of the District of the Rio Grande Dec. 27, 1877, and here he remained until his death.”
The description of his funeral in Brownsville, Texas, was given in great detail by “the Cosmopolitan Daily Telegrams” of that place, Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1880.

2264 Anna M., was born in Cambridge, Md., March 21, 1826, and married May 18, 1847, in St. Louis, Mo., George Clinton, son of General Philip Reed of Revolutionary fame. James Sykes Reed, son, was residing in Portland, Oregon, in 1901. Anna M. died in 1894 and was buried in that place.
James S., married Corinne Cargill, of an old New York family and had issue: George, Chaton, Anna, Corinne, Hazel, Henrietta and Medford.

2265 John, died in infancy.

2266 Agnes, born March 4, 1836. [Agnes states that her father’s father was James Sykes, one of the first delegates to Congress from Delaware and after retiring from his profession was Governor of Delaware.]
