Harlan – At Reno Center, Reno county, Kansas, on Saturday, July 28th, 1883, Harlan, youngest child of Deacon and Mrs. M. C. Bussinger, aged one year, eight months and four days.

Little Harlie was drowned in his father's water tank, at 3 o'clock p.m. of the above date. It was supposed he climbed upon the tank, which was about six feet high, containing about two feet of water, and loosing his balance fell in, and was thus drowned.

He was found by his mother, floating on the surface of the water some time, although Mrs. B. thinks he could not have been away from her more that then minutes.

Harlie was a rarely sweet child and so precious to the family, so sadly bereaved. None can begin to realize such a sorrow and loss but those who have a similar experience. The death of these sweet, precious souls is sad and trying at best, but doubly so when the result of such an accident. The funeral at the Reno Center school house, on last Sabbath, was largely attended by many sympathizing friends and neighbors, who have the sincere thanks of the bereaved parents for their great kindness. Services conducted by Rev. Mr. G. Dean, of Hutchinson.
