Catherine Evans was born in Wales, was widowed as a young woman and was married several times again. With her first husband she had three children. Ernest married Margaret Mae Becker. a sister to Charlie Becker. Margaret and Ernest had sons John and Keith Nicholls. Margaret later fell in an old well and died. Ernest married again to Lillian Fullton, a long time teacher in Olds, Alberta. Mrs. Catherine Nicholls’s second child Elizabeth married Reg Fletcher. Hubert was the third child of the first marriage.
Mrs. Nicholls married her second husband, Mr. Stanton; they had two children, a daughter Cassie who later married Walter Butlin. Cassie later lived in Bashaw Alberta where her son Victor Butlin married Theresa Becker daughter of Leopold and ____.
A son, Jack Stanton was also born to the Stanton union. Widowed again Mrs. Stanton married a man named Mr. Dayton Ames and later he divorced her. There were no children in this marriage to Dayton Ames.
Catherine married a fourth time to Mr. Bill Bise, a rancher from Texas. The stories heard from Bill Bise may have been the wild west stories which Bert Nicholls revealed to his son Les Nicholls as Les was growing up in Calgary. Les recalls hearing that Bill had at one time met the renowned rancher in the Brooks district, John Ware. There were no children in the union with Bill Bise and Catherine. Catherine died in June in the 1955 and is buried in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery in Lacombe, Alberta.
