Edna Louise (Cook) Burns, age 83, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on March 23, 1930, on Long Run in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Elijah Thomas & Margaret "Maggie" (Craig) Cook. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where she attended high school. Edna was united in marriage on March 4, 1950, to the late, Robert Donald Courtney, Sr. & he passed away on April 16, 1970. Edna was later united in marriage in 1960 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, to the late, Harold Eugene Hamilton & he passed away on November 19, 2002. Edna was later united in marriage to the late, Vernon Burns & he passed away on November 11, 1994. She was a former employee for Hereford Motor Lodge, for 10 years. Edna resided in the Madison Community, since 1960. She was a wonderful housekeeper & homemaker. Edna enjoyed babysitting, her family, yard saling, her African Violets & gardening. Edna loved all animals, especially cats. Edna was a devoted mother & grandmother. Edna died at 4:00 pm, Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana.

Edna will be missed by her son: Barry Courtney of Sardinia, OH; her daughters: Diana Kay Turner of Madison, IN, Sharon Maiden & her husband: Edward of Scipio, IN, Melissa Burnette of Madison, IN; her grandchildren: Patricia Baker & her husband: William, Allen Fox, Angela Hamilton, Dustin Payne & his wife: Kayla, Stacey Withers & her husband: Chris Johnson, Jack Slovenski; her great-grandchildren: Billy, Morgan, Taylor, Shelby, Noah, Grace & Loralei; her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Elijah Thomas & Margaret "Maggie" (Craig) Cook; her 1st-husband: Robert Donald Courtney, Sr., died April 16, 1970; her 2nd-husband: Harold Eugene Hamilton, died November 19, 2002; her 3rd-husband: Vernon Burns, died November 11, 1994; her son: Robert Donald "Bobby Don" Courtney, died September 5, 2011; her brothers: Joseph T. "Jodie" Cook, died April 3, 1992, William Bill Cook, died February 2, 1998 & Oscar D. Cook, died December 2, 1999.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Mike Stephens, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm โ€“ 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
