Ignac Prymek was born in Kamenec, county of Rokecane, state of Plzen, Bohemia, May 23, 1941, and died in the hospital at Belleville, Kansas, February 19, 1930, having reached the age of 88 years, 8 months an 26 days.

In the spring of 1868 when he was 26 years old, he came to America, leaving his parents and two brothers and sisters behind. He arrived at the home of his brother, Joe, at Riverside, Ill., where he made his home for a few years. Here he was married to Miss Josefa Novy, January 3, 1871. A year later he and his wife decided to come west. They traveled in a covered wagon to Kansas in 1872, not knowing their destination until they arrived in Republic county and homesteaded on land a quarter of a mile east of the present location of Cuba. At the time they came here there was no town and the entire country was an unbroken prairie. Mr. Prymek and his wife, possessing scarcely any worldly goods, but rich in youth and strength and willingness to work, built a sod house where they lived happily. Through hard work and thrift they were later able to build a better dwelling and finally were farming 160 acres. In 1888 Mr. Prymek entered into partnership with Jim Edson and for one year was associated with him in the lumber business here. After disposing of his interests there he became interested in the furniture store now owned by his son, Otto Prymek. He was a charter member of the Odd Fellow, C.S.P.S. and Z.C.B.J. lodges in Cuba.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Prymek, six daughters and three sons. The beloved wife preceded her husband in death on March 15, 1911, and two daughters also passed before; Anna, the eldest, dying in infancy, and Julia Kozel on August 26, 1929. Since the death of his wife he had made his home with his son, Fred, and family.

He leaves to mourn his loss four daughters: Mary Hruza and Alice Moravek of Munden, Kansas; Albina Brosh and Rose Brosh of Montrose, Colo.; three sons, Otto, Ernest and Fred of Cuba, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of his son, Fred, Saturday afternoon, Mr. Joseph Smrha of Milligan, Nebr. in charge. Interment was made beside his wife in the Kopsa cemetery.
