ELYRIA - Linda Sheryl Burgess (nee: Jones), 60 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center following a brief illness.
Linda was born September 23, 1953, in Amherst, Ohio, and graduated from Elyria High School with the class of 1972.
She spent her whole life in Lorain county, mostly in Elyria.
She devoted her life to serving her family as a housewife and mother. She spent over 2 years serving as a receptionist at St. Mary of the Woods. She treasured time spent with her family and friends. Linda loved to read. She was a dog lover as well. Some of her fondest memories were of times spent singing with her family and family gatherings.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of forty years Barry Allen Burgess; her daughter Lauren Burgess of Elyria; her brothers Levi "Jan" Jones and his wife Shirley of Ashland, Warren "Jeff" Jones and his wife Teresa of S. Amherst; and her sister Betty "Louise" and her husband Rev. Ervin "Butch" Jones of Lorain.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Levi and Julia Myrtle Jones (nee: Casada).
Friends may call Wednesday, March 12, 2014, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Ervin Jones, pastor of Fuller Road Community Church of Elyria will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lifebanc, 4775 Richmond Rd., Cleveland OH 44128.
