Mary Fisher, 95, Hubbard, died on Friday, November 21, 2003 at the Hubbard Care Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 24 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard. Burial followed in the Hubbard Cemetery.

She was born April 10, 1908 the oldest of six children to Otto Rudolph and Charlotte Lavina Schirmer Boettcher at their farm house near Holton, Kansas. She attended Lower Banner School and graduated from Holton High School in 1926. She lived and worked in Delano, California from 1927 to 1929 before returning to Holton.

On August 12, 1930 Mary was united in marriage to Oswell H Fisher at her parents' home. After farming three years with Oswell's family, they moved to a farm near Topeka, Kansas and raised sheep. In 1944 they moved their family to her cousins farm southeast of Hubbard and in 1950 moved two miles west to their own farm. In 1966 they retired to Hubbard where they lived until February 2000, when they bother entered the Hubbard Care Center.

Mary taught nursery and Kindergarten classes at Salem Church for 21 years. She held various offices in church, and was a member of UMW for 73 years. Her later interests involved quilting and serving funeral lunches.

Mary is survived by four children, Robert (Nita) Fisher of Story City; Helen (Wendell) Eley of Zearing; David (Marlys) Fisher and Bernice (Leonard) Pennings, all of Hubbard; 16 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; two sisters, Laurine Nielson of Santa Maria, California; and Clarice Hiett of Daggett, California; one brother Lawrence (Ruth) Boettcher of Fresno, California; and one sister-in-law, Margaret Boettcher of Morro Bay, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oswell in 2000; three infant granddaughters; Janis and Jean Fisher in 1959 and Lois Penning in 1963; grandson-in-law Tim Pierce in 2002; two brothers, William and wife Bernice Boettcher and Otto Boettcher Jr and two brothers-in-law Uriel Nielson and Harry Hiett.
