Catherine was a member of the Second Congregational church and active in the affairs of the Women's Relief corps. In support of her family, Kate was an accomplished seamstress.
Kate was married to Edwin Benton Childs, an expert carriage builder and entrepreneur, at her parental home on December 24, 1873. It is here that she and Edwin became the parents of two very special young ladies, Daisy Katherine and Lillie Belle. Though the couple divorced in Oct 1886, they continued to have a mutually respectful relationship, with Kate and daughters known to have visited with Edwin at his home in Spokane, Washington.
Daisy Childs became the bride of Bennett P Stewart and they had two children, Catharine Bernita and Prentiss Baird. Lillie Childs live single, choosing to focusing her energy and keen financial acumen on matters of business.
Surviving Catherine were her daughters, Mrs. Daisy Stewart and Miss Lillie Childs; her grandchildren, Prentiss B Steward and Mrs Catherine B Eggleston; six great grandchildren; a brother, Prentiss Fredrick Kellogg; and a niece and two nephews. Predeceased were her parents; one brother, John Kendall Kellogg; and Edwin B Childs.
