Thomas Leonard Callen, 64, a Lewiston-Clarkston resident since 1930, died at his home at 431 14th St., yesterday at 3:30 a.m. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Callen had been a dredge operator for the Washington Water Power Co. behind its dam for the last 10 years and prior to that had worked in road construction and agriculture.

He was born at Elk Point, S.D., April 22, 1889, but spent most of his early life at Grangeville, where he moved in 1904.

He married Miss Johanna Jammer at Grangeville on Oct. 30, 1916, and some years later the couple moved to Walla Walla where they engaged in farming until 1930 when they moved to Lewiston.

The family purchased a home at Clarkston about 10 years later and lived there for 12 years before moving to the present Lewiston address two years ago.

Mr. Callan was engaged in road construction here until 1944 when he joined the Washington Water Power Co.

His survivors include his wife, Johanna, at Lewiston; two sons, Joseph of Clarkston and Emmett, formerly of Lewiston and now at Yakima; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Edwards of Port Angeles, Wash., and Mrs. Elsie Lyon of Moscow; two brothers, Eugene Callan of Sheridan, Wyo., and Joe Callan of Portland; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Cummings of Lewiston, Mrs. Marie De Armond of Grangeville and Mrs. Luella Lowell of Whittier, Calif., and six grandchildren.
