Howard W. Shrewsbury, 64, of Crab Orchard, died Monday at 8:15 p.m. in a Richmond, Va., hospital of natural causes.
Born March 23, 1920, in Besoco, he was a son of the late George and Mattie Shrewsbury.
Mr. Shrewsbury was a 37-year resident of Raleigh County and was a Baptist. He was a coal miner, a construction worker and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Mae Shrewsbury; two sons, Dennis and Roger Shrewsbury, both of Crab Orchard; four daughters, Dorlia Cox, Jan Lacy, Judy Shrewsbury and Sylvia Sweeney, all of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Jane Rochell of Logan and Macie Church of Crab Orchard.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Melton Mortuary chapel in Beckley with the Rev. Robert Combs officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley with graveside rites conducted by the Sophia-Midway VFW Post 4326.
Friends may call today from 6 pm to 9pm.
Pallbearers will David Combs, Stanley Sweeney, Ronnie Long, Kenneth Rakes, Bob Milam and Jackie Cozart.
