Ellen Louise Black 80, of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed from this life on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Quaker Hill Nursing Home.

Ellen was born June 18, 1933 in St. Paul, KS to the union of John Harold and Edna Mae (Gilbert) Cooper.

Ellen was united in marriage on March 29, 1952 in Bentonville, AR to James Willard Black.

Ellen spent her life as a homemaker loving and caring for her family and friends.

Ellen is survived by two sons, Jerry Black and Jack Black both of Baxter Springs, KS; one brother, Harold Cooper; three sisters, Noreen Bartlett, Fluorine Neighbors, and Patsy Mathis; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Willa Wood and Irene Kellogg; one son Kenneth Black; one brother Edwin Cooper; one sister, Geneva Black.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, March 10, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church, Baxter Springs, KS. Pastor Russell Presson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the GAR Cemetery, Miami, OK.

Ellen has been entrusted to Derfelt's Baxter Chapel for cremation.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church.
