Mrs. Florence "Mama Kitty" Jones, 91, of Columbia, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at her residence.
Services are 1 pm Friday, March 27, 2009, at Bellafant Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1607 Whatley St., with the Rev. Michael Frye eulogist. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5-7 pm at White Springs United Primitive Baptist Church.
Burial is in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Jennie Jones. She attended the Maury County school system. She was employed for a number of years by Mr. and Mrs. William Ridley. She was also employed by Mrs. Louise Carpenter, the Rev. Bob Tharp and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jack. She Was a member of White Springs United Primitive Baptist Church where she served as an Usher and served on the Mother's Board.
She was preceded in death by her sister Sadie Jones Walker; brothers Aaron, Robert Lee, Albert, Dee, Douglas, Frank and John Porter Jr; Martha Ann Armstrong; son William Edward Moss; granddaughter Linda C. Moss and great-granddaughter Tamia Rochelle Whitaker.
Survivors include her children: Lula Bailey, John Moss, Frank Moss, Jennie M. Vestal, Donald Moss, Doro-thy Moss, Eunice Colmore, Will Ridley, Kathlene Jones, Grant and Briana Jones, Knight Carpenter, Robert Jack, Laura Jack, Edward Jack, David Tharp, Campbell Ridley Jr, Celia Ridley, Eva Jane Cricthon and Ann Tharp; 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and devoted friends.
