Regina A. Legare, 99, of Hollywood, SC, entered into eternal rest Friday evening, February 28, 2014.

Gina was born January 1, 1915, in Charleston, SC, one of four siblings of the late Thomas G. and Margaret A. Legare.

She grew up on the family farm on Yonges Island, graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill and joined the U.S. Army Civil Service. Gina served as recreation director at bases in Germany, Italy, South Korea, Japan, The Philippines, Samoa, Guam, Alaska and Kentucky. During her service, she was decorated with numerous awards of service and distinction in caring for our troops overseas. Her love for travel, community and fellowship was her driving force to join the civil service and during her time off, she traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Her final tour of duty was at Fort Knox, KY, where she retired in 1978 and returned to Charleston.

She was a member of The Huguenot Society, Christ St. Paul's Parish Church, supporter of the USO, York Place and the Healing Farms Ministries.

Graveside services were Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Christ Church, Adams Run. J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
