William Ford was the son of James & Mary Cline Ford. He, along with his parents, left Kendall county, Illinois April 10, 1853 and headed west. The family, after coming down the Columbia River,arrived in Polk co. Oregon in Nov. 1853. William married Lydia K. Hubbard, Jan. 28, 1864 in Polk county, Oregon and the couple had six children and one adopted daughter, Sybil A. Wilson. He was a carpenter and a millwright, also a farmer and sheep raiser.
