Mary wed James Ford, Sept. 22, 1831 in Tazwell county, Illinos. They had 10 children. The family crossed the plains to Oregon in 1853 and settled on the Little Luckiamute, where she remained in her quiet, peaceful home until the death of her husband. After which she remained at the old home with some of her children and grandchildren until her death.
She was known in the community as "Aunt Polly". She, like her husband, was widely known and respected, a kind and good citzen. She was united with the Baptist church in 1868 and remained a constant member until the day of her death.
