It was suggested that Joseph was born September 10, 1806 in Londonderry "citing Vermont state records." Several men named Joseph Allen lived in Vermont around this time, and it is not clear which 'Vermont state records' are being credited with that birth date. In 1852, births and deaths were recorded by Town Clerks, not the State. Some transcripts of Vermont *burial* records suggest that everyone who is buried in Vermont also died here. While is it sometimes true, it is not always true.
