SANDY—Funeral services for Arthur Hughes, 61, 184 S. 1st West, veteran Sandy barber who died Saturday at his residence, will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Sandy Third ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was born Aug. 25, 1887 in Murray, son of William H. and Emma Smith Hughes. He married Margaret Gillespie in June, 1912 in Salt Lake City. She died in December, 1938. Mr. Hughes then married Ferrell E. Grass Aug. 12, 1940, in Provo.

When 7 years old, he moved with members of his family to Sandy. He was a partner in Hewlett and Hughes Barber shop for 33 years.

Mr. Hughes was an elder in Sandy Third L D S ward. Three years ago he retired from the Sandy volunteer fire department after 27 years of service.

Survivors include his widow, two sons, A. Ronald Hughes, Murray, and Wilford Hughes, Tooele: two brothers and a half sister, William M. and John M. Hughes and Mrs. Isabell Davis, Sandy; six grandchildren; two stepdaughters and a stepson, Mrs. Paul Watson, San- Francisco: Miss Carol LaVon Grass, Sandy, and H. V. Grass,Lehi, Utah county.

Friends may call at the family residence Tuesday evening and Wednesday. Burial will be in Murray cemetery.
