A daughter of Harman and Sarah Cook Crews. (Granddaughter of Reuben and Connie Whicker Crews). Had siblings Reuben Crews (husband of Martha Fulp), Diana Crews Grubbs (wife of Jesse F. Grubbs), James W. Crews (husband of Elizabeth Jane Jones), Sarah A. Crews, John M. "Emanuel" Crews---who married Jemima Fulp; Connie Crews Marshall (wife of John D. Marshall), and Elizabeth Crews Marshall (wife of Elias M. Marshall). Nancy was the wife of Frederick J. Smith. She was mother of Mary Louise Eagleson, Thomas J. Smith (killed at Fredericksburg, Va. May 4, 1862), Elmira Smith Samuel, Ann Elizabeth Smith Blackburn Crews, and John William Cole Smith. (Note: There seems to be no tombstone for Nancy Crews Smith or for her husband Frederick Smith. Record of her burial at Salem Chapel came from Family Bible records owned by Mrs. Helen Fletcher of Bennettsville, SC, (in 1978) a descendant of Frederick and Nancy Crews Smith.)
