Lauren Rebecca Shelton born March 20, 1986 in Oklahoma City passed away February 25, 2004 after a long battle with cystic fibrosis. She was a senior at Sante Fe High School in Edmond where she was active in the orchestra. She was an officer in Edmond FFA and long time member of Camp Fire and CC Riders. Her greatest pleasure in life was to be around horses and her rabbits. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Homer Dippold and Darrell Shelton, and an infant brother, Blake Shelton. Survivors include Mona Shelton of the home, Brian Shelton, her grandmothers, Gail Dippold and Mary Lou Flury and a large extended family. Viewing is Friday with family visitation from 6 to 8 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. Services are Saturday at Church of the Servant at 2:30. Lauren lived her short life with a vigor that belied her illness. The family wants to thank all the many caregivers, especially the transplant team that gave her a lung transplant that extended the quantity and quality of her life, and the staff of Baptist 701 ICU who cared so lovingly for her in the final days. In lieu of flowers, donations to CF Solutions 7471 East 46th Place Tulsa, OK, 74145 would be appreciated. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
