Lina was born in Lentini, Sicily, on June 29th, 1934, to loving parents Giuseppe Floridia and Rosa Sudano Floridia. Lina was residing in Rome when she met her beloved husband Franco A. Cavallaro, and then she gave birth to her only son Massimo L. Cavallaro. She moved to San Francisco, California, with her family, in the mid 1960s.
Lina's first job in San Francisco was at the Columbus Savings & Loan Association, where she was known as "Lilly." Later she continued her career with American Express, starting in San Francisco, and later transferring to the Peninsula Area, where she retired in Palo Alto after 25 years of service.
Lina is survived by her son Massimo Cavallaro of Menlo Park; her brother Dr. Rosario Floridia and his wife Sharon Floridia; her grandson, Gino Cavallaro; her daughter-in-law Galyna Cavallaro, of Menlo Park; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Franco A. Cavallaro in May, 1995. She was a loving wife, sister, grandmother, aunt, and a faithful friend to many.
Beautiful Lina was a lover of all things Italian and enjoyed traveling the world with much passion and enthusiasm. Her main love and devotion was to her family. Lina was a wonderful cook, and much enjoyed her garden, Italian kitchen, and gathering her family and many friends around her. Lina was always the life of the party with her beautiful sense of humor, constantly on the go with great contagious energy and joyful spirit. Lina's spirit will live forever on in the hearts of her beloved family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating her Life will be given for Lina at Alta Mesa Funeral Home's Main Chapel in Palo Alto, CA, on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Alta Mesa Memorial Park on Monday March 17th, at 01:00 p.m. Post-funeral reception will be held at the Piccolo Ristorante Italiano of Menlo Park, on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 02:00 p.m.
