The following obituary appeared in the "Record-Courier" (Kent, OH) on Thursday, May 9, 2013:

"Kip" William Keith Minnick

Braceville--- Thursday morning, April 25, 2013, at his home, "Kip" William Keith Minnick, 67, left the body and is in the presence of Jesus. Born September 8, 1945 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of Darrell Dane Minnick and Dora Louise Mitchell Minnick.

A resident of the Nelson-Braceville area most of his life, he attended Faith Evangelical Free Church in Nelson. Kip graduated from James A. Garfield H.S. and the Franklin Linotype School (Dresden, OH) and was employed at the Garrettsville Journal and Umbaugh Pole Buildings (Ravenna) before retiring in 2000 from CSC (Copperweld Steel) with 32 years service as a track repairman.

Art and running were facets of Kip's life that shined bright. Running daily and competing in racing events were a pleasure of his for decades. The art he produced over a lifetime was second nature. Rarely a day went by when a sign wasn't made, a pencil put to paper or a brush to canvas. His art was for everyone.

If he were here this is the obituary I feel that he would really want! William "Kip" Minnick left this life April 25th the same as he lived it… simply.

Treasured memories of Kip will be carried on by his wife, Susan Kotkowski, whom he married Feb. 14, 1971; son, Thaddeus (Amanda) of Warren; daughter, Molly (Jeff) Estes of Braceville; son, Matthew (Melissa) of Newton Falls; grandchildren, Gunnar, Rayna, and Jeffrey Estes; sisters, Grace (Trudi) Hickox of Middlefield; Mary (Scott) Stiegemeier of Kent; Pamela Uchrinscko of Clearwater, FL; and brothers, Robbyn of Windham and Tim (Lisa) of Middlefield.

Kip was preceded in death by his parents; brother Rev. Darrell Minnick; and sister, Karen Dennis.

To honor Kip's wishes, there were no calling hours. Cremation was handled compassionately by Borowski Memorial Home--Newton Falls.

All those who knew and loved Kip are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life which will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Free Church 10585 Windham-Parkman RD, Garrettsville (Nelson Township).
