Mr. Goodwin was born in the Moore's Chapel Community near Milan to Elver and Dovie Goodwin. He enlisted in the U S Navy during WW II and was aboard the submarine, USS Pompon as an electrician's mate in the Pacific Theater. Following the war he married Patricia Jordan of Milan and attended Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. Soon after they moved to Michigan and found work in the automotive industry. In the years of 1963-1964 Mr. Goodwin moved his family to Cape Canaveral and worked in the Saturn program on lauch pad 37. There he met President Kennedy, Rocket Scientist Werner Von Braun and the Ethiopian President Haile Salassie. He ultimately returned to the General Motors Corporation in Michigan where he worked until his retirement in 1979. Upon retirement, he returned to Tennessee and purchased land in Perry County, TN where he and his family built a house and enjoyed farming and country living.

Great Grandchildren - Andrew Houghton, Zachary Hazen, Gabriel Hazen and Marian Goodwin

Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his wife Pat, his parents Elver and Dovie Goodwin, daughter Patricia Lee and siblings Cecil, Ella, Doris and Rachel.

Memorials may be made to the Heifer Project International a charity based organization working to ease hunger and poverty by providing livestock and training to communities in this county and around the world.
