Douglas M. Beck, 86, of Temple, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, in a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Ranjan Cletus and Monsignor Elmer Holtman officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Monday, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Douglas was born in Westphalia, Texas, to the late Henry and Irene Witcher Beck. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. Douglas married Aileen Hollas on July 6, 1950, in Cameron, Texas. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1984. Douglas was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 3444 for over 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Curtis Beck; and a sister, Lillian Beck.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen Beck, of Temple; son, Gary Beck and wife, Ruth, of Moffat; daughter, Carol Taylor and husband, Don, of Temple; grandchildren: Jennifer Barnes, Shannon Halterman, Kelly Beck, and Kory Beck; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Otis Beck, of Little River/Academy; sister, Nell Thomas, of Killeen; many other relatives and friends.
